The RSA has launched a new Prison Learning Network - a major project aimed at developing pragmatic solutions for improving how education is provided in prisons. In her introductory article, 'Innovation inside', published in the December 2007 RSA Journal, project manager Fran Sainsbury describes how improved learning and education can make a significant contribution to preventing crime and building a more capable society. She goes on to describe how many people think prison, at best, does not prevent crime and, at worst, leaves offenders worse off and more likely to commit crimes on release. The delivery of offender learning by appropriately trained staff essential. Life Change UK's programme is aimed at supporting such delivery. click here
