The following statements are typical of the positive feedback received from
those who have already undertaken our unique and valuable face to face training
"The training will help me to focus on barriers to progress and how best to help my learners. It will also help me with my DTLLS studies"
Training Officer City College Plymouth
"I found this the most useful training that I have had since joining Connexions two and a half years ago. It was very interesting, useful and I enjoyed the interaction. I will use the information everyday to enahnce and expand on what I already do with clients".
"Following our training with Life Change UK, I and fellow Young Devon workers have already used many of the new skills to good effect. During an anti-bullying session with a particularly challenging youth inclusion group we used various new models of intervention, including the Drama Triangle and personal affirmations. The response from the young people was very positive and encouraging. They embraced the session enthusiastically, so much so that they are now planning to make a film to highlight bullying issues and to reflect their own experiences as to how they can change their situations when needed. The Life Change UK training has been very valuable, increasing my personal confidence in my work as well providing a range of new interventions that I will use to help young people change their behaviour".

"An excellent, insightful and thought provoking course with great relevance to me and my work. The overall content of the course will have a really positive influence on my prcatice".
"This was the best training that I have attended. It was very interesting and informative. All Connexions advisors should, have the opportunity to attend".
Staff of various Plymouth based organisations enjoying their training.

"This was a very enjoyable course with brilliant content, well presented and lots of attendee participation. The trainers were very friendly and know their stuff".

"The package of training delivered was very informative and thought provoking. It encourages reflective practice, which has proved invaluable when working with young people, guardians and staff. There was new theory, based around more familiar concepts, which has been used to good effect in the working environment and the trainers have been extremely supportive in the learning process.

The training was excellent, with a mixture of different teaching and learning activities, related to personal experiences where possible. The style was relaxed and enjoyable, creating a forum for open debate and discussion.

I would recommend this training to anyone working with young people, regardless of their role. It could easily form part of a larger programme of teacher / tutor training or embedded into shorter courses for those who support students".

"I am really confident that I can transfer the skills I have learned into my work with young people and my Scout group".

"Since completing the course I have used the information that I was taught a great deal in my teaching sessions and in my working environment. I have been able to help colleagues with their sessions, how they consider situations and think about the individuals they work with. They are now using the tools that I was taught on the course."
"This training is something that senior managers should also attend"
"My overall impressions of the five day course remains very positive. Attending the course has had a very significant impact on my work, especially in terms of raising my confidence re. my knowledge and skills. For me, the course was a powerful experience - it was an opportunity to remind myself of what I know, and to reflect on how I work. Since the course, I have felt much more able to positively influence the development of policy and practice in the organisation in which I work. Assertively and professionally, I have made my voice heard."
"It is very refreshing to be trained by people who are obviously confident with the content. The confidence that I gained has improved my personal self-esteem and subsequently helped me in my work. I will be recommending Life Change UK to my college as an example of superb training. I have previously sampled very bad training which has been more than made up for by this experience."
"Very useful and in depth training, equipping me with skills not only for work, but also for life."
"The content was thought provoking, inspiring and extremely self-revelatory. As a foundation for working with and supporting others, this course / workshop is invaluable."
"The training which was comprehensive and very professionally delivered, provided staff with a greater understanding as to why young people behave as they do and what methods of communication and interaction they can deploy in order to defuse tensions, re-engage individuals and promote an environment of positive motivation and participation."
"Interesting course content with information given in an easy to understand manner. Emotive and reflective, re-affirming what I do is within the parameters of this training; just didn't have labels for it."
“I enjoyed every aspect of the two days training, the amount of information given and the professional high level of training from the facilitators. It was an inspiration and a real eye opener. Thank you for an amazing two days; really fantastic.”
"I have learned a lot about myself and also what I am going to do about it."
"Thank you so much for the training that was organised via Plymouth Works which I attended. The course confirmed and validated for me the way I work. It was great for me to meet so many people with so many different skills. Thoroughly enjoyable training, thank you again."
“I feel more confident in dealing with issues if they arise as I feel we have been given the effective tools to communicate and explore other methods and approaches of dealing with challenging situations.”
“It has raised my awareness of issues facing young people and ways of developing skills to support them.”
"I found the Life Change UK training to be most beneficial to my personal work practice as well as my own personal self-development. I found that I was able to consolidate and improve my understanding and the way I work. It also gave me greater self belief in why I provide the provision that I do. I am able to challenge myself with regard to improving my service and I feel it gave me added motivation to continually strive to improve. I learned something new from all five days and enjoyed the theoretical side of the course as it enabled me to understand in greater depth how and why people become stuck in the cycle of negative behaviour, but that all have the ability to change."

"The training was refreshing, involving and very informative. It provided a good learning environment with ideas and opinions allowed to be expressed openly. I felt that my opinions were valued."

"The facilitators were very open to questions, enabling me to feel confident in continuing to use their insight even after the course had been completed. The whole course gave me great satisfaction in having taken part and being able to add my own knowledge to the facilitators as well as others that I met during the five days."

"I thoroughly enjoyed and benefitted from the Life Change UK training. It has helped me to look differently at the way I work with young people, recognizing how my perceptions and feelings have impacted upon my approach and how I dealt with it. Too often in the past I have attempted a quick fix, not appreciating that clients often feel safe living in a chaotic state and that it can often suit them to resist change. Recognising this has enabled me to see how I can work more effectively and help more young people in the future. I think it is important that all those working with challenging clients should be given this type of training."

"The training has enabled me to learn more about myself. I found it very insightful and a really enjoyable experience".

"When I first heard about the course I was unsure if it was relevant to my work or if I would even enjoy doing the course and still felt like that on the day. The group I was with were very helpful and the trainers made me feel really welcome. The tasks we did were also good and it made the day more fun and easy to learn. Another thing which I didn’t expect from the course was how much of an emotional and personal learning curve it was. I learnt so much about myself I didn’t know and other stuff I didn’t want to know about myself. I now understand to a certain extent why my parents did what they did, which has helped my relationship with them. The course notes that were given out were also helpful and I use it as part of my sessions to educate my young people".

“I found the training very good and in depth. It covered many subjects and areas which did make me stop and think about how clients view us and how they look to us to offer help and assistance. There were lots of different ideas and angles to look at in dealing with various client issues. Very interactive, group work, individual work. diagrams, charts etc.

Because it was over two days it was far more in depth and gave us the chance to explore ideas and ways of working with the trainers and our colleagues. On a scale of one to ten, I'd give it 9".

"The trainers were good, we are quite an outgoing bunch and there was plenty to keep us interested, not just endless flipcharts and power point presentations. The hand outs which were of the entire course (and some more) have been very helpful to me to look back at and I have looked further into some of the subjects that interested me in particular.
“I found the training to be really useful and interesting and it was run really well".
I so appreciated the course and the extensive back-up guidance and informative notes – making it the most comprehensive, professional and profoundly appropriate course for life and work"
"Brilliantly sourced information, comprehensively delivered, good discussions alike, with appropriate theories and models for a wide range of communication and training situations."
"The whole course was enjoyable, informative and important to me personally. I am sure it will be of benefit to me and others for many years to come. The greatest compliment I can give is that it is the kind of work that I would like to be good enough to do myself."
"The training has increased my personal self-esteem and given me the confidence that I know what I am talking about and can help colleagues"
"The Communication part of the course helped me to understand how people's different perceptions and understanding of situations and issues impacts upon behaviour, particularly that of staff colleagues"
"I'm now looking forward to applying what I have learnt. I know these skills will make me a better and more rounded instructor."
"I have found the hand books very useful as I am able to go back to them and use the information. This has been good to use in helping my colleagues with their day to day work."
"Some of my colleagues have been on the two day course; they found this very useful as well. The majority of our assessing staff have been on the course and the rest hope to attend soon. All gained a lot of knowledge and are using it in their work as well as home life".
“Both trainers were great and very understanding and helpful.”
“I was left wanting to know more.”
"Really informative. I picked up some useful tips and information."
“It was good to see my staff share their knowledge and experiences of dealing with a difficult client group.”
“It made me think about the way that I deal with learners. I will now work more closely with my staff teams and not make rash decisions without consulting them.”
"I thought both facilitators were brilliant. They knew what they were talking about. Thank you for two great days training.”
“I think my communication skills have been enhanced and I have learnt some new ones.”
"The trainers were good, very knowledgeable and used many personal experiences in their delivery, which was good. The trainers were both approachable. I felt I could talk to Theresa easily and can see how people in bad situations would also be able to do so."
"Very interesting. It has made me re-evaluate how I deal with clients." I have learnt a lot from this course and am looking forward to putting the training into practice."
"Needed longer. A great course - learnt a lot!"
"If members of the management committee were aware of the benefits of this type of training for their staff, more organisations would take it up. Management Committees need to know about the need for clinical supervision for practitioners in this field of work. The training would flag up this issue as being a priority and of long-term benefit."
"The activities helped to demonstrate clearly the relevance and context of the subjects/modules - made it real."
"Exploring boundaries will enable me to support staff in recognising their own."
"Very much a team effort - this provided the group with a feeling of security - safe to disclose."
"A very well planned and detailed course. Lots of useful points. A varied course with lots of different styles of presenting information."
"The group was a very special place - trusting and supportive, thus it felt safe to undertake any of the exercises."
